About Rachel

For over three decades Rachel Pelican has been making the world a more colorful place to experience life. She has a passion for exploring artistic mediums, including –but not limited to- ceramics, photography, puffy paints and acrylic painting. She has stated, “I consider myself a colorist, rather than an artist.” Rachel began her art career at the age of 6, when she took her first ceramics class and recently had her first solo show at the age of 36. Though she majored in academics, Rachel always made sure to enroll in one art class per semester, “…to keep my sanity!” She continues to evolve her vibrant, quirky art and loves how people have reacted to her fun, colorful, textured work. Most recently, when Rachel began her acrylic smear paintings on canvases, a whole new format for her creative expression was born. Her favorite part of her art shows is asking viewers to share which is their favorite piece and why. “It is always amazing to witness people opening up to the magical force of abstract color combinations!”
